Watching my Twitter timeline usually results in some great laughs and conversations — and then there are those times where I look at the conversations and ask why? I don’t typically argue or debate anyone on social media, unless it’s about Rihanna. However, the topic of Alicia Keys and her personal decision to no longer wear makeup started a riot on social media.
Why? Because men and women decided to delegate whether or not women should wear makeup. If you want to be natural faced and bare, I applaud you. That’s how you want to present yourself to the world and you should not be shunned for that. If you want to have on full coverage foundation and false eyelashes, I applaud you as well. Makeup is not just an accessory for your face, but it is a skill and a way to express yourself creatively.
Either decision is a good one because it’s YOUR face. As a beauty blogger, from the outside looking in, most would assume that I pack on pounds of makeup but the reality is that I don’t. I try to practice good skin care habits daily and drink water, so that I have a refreshed face. On the other hand, I wear makeup but one day I’ll just fill in my brows and wear mascara, then the next I’ll do a full face. It’s all about mood and expression and comfortability.
Do what makes you happy. Don’t worry of how others think you should wear your face.
Alicia Keys looks happy and beautiful.
