Strip lashes will always have a place in the makeup world. They’re an easy, fast way to look extra glam without the high maintenance of lash extensions or time of individuals. I’ll forever be a lover of wearing strip false lashes but they come with some important “rules” to follow. These are five do’s and five don’ts to wearing your favorite pair of falsies.
DO:
- Pick a lash that represents your style and comfort. If you want bold, go big! If you want an everyday look, pick something more even across the lash.
- Size lashes along your lash line before applying glue.
- Trim the ends so they aren’t too long and irritate the inner corners of your eyelids.
- Reuse your strip lashes! Most can be reused with proper care and it saves money in the long run.
- Clean your false lashes periodically with soap and warm water to remove any built-up lash glue. Then you can also use makeup remover to get rid of excess.
DON’T:
- Mix up the left lash from the right lash! False lashes are designed with each side of the face in mind. Nothing is worse than getting the whole lash on and then realizing that it’s on the wrong eye.
- Look straight ahead when putting the lash on your eye line. Looking down into a handheld mirror will give the easier method.
- Apply too much glue to the lashes! A thin layer is all that is needed with a bit extra on the ends to prevent lifting.
- Use too much mascara to blend your real lashes with the false ones. You don’t want to get too much product into the false lashes.
- Rip false lashes off of your eye! Use a cotton swab and makeup remover to loosen the glue.
Bonus: Don’t give up! Applying lashes takes some time to get used to but once you’ve mastered the technique, you’ll be in love and never look back.
