Look at his little paw waving at you.
I finally got a puppy. Two months ago. I’m sure you all have seen my little pride and joy (and headache) Domino all over my Twitter and daily on on my Snapchat. The almost 6-month-old American Eskimo and Australian Shepard mix is easily the best gift I’ve ever received. Devante surprised me with him back in April and I pretty much loved little baby Dom ever since.
Most girls want puppies (or kittens if you’re into that). It’s seems like the fun thing to do, raise a cute little puppy; take pictures, take him on walks, feed him and cuddle. But listen when your mom tells you to wait. Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t trade Domino for the world but raising him quickly went from tears of joy and excitement — to me yelling at him to stop biting my fingers and toes, repeatedly, all day, non stop.
Dom Kennedy (his nickname, cool right?) is an active little fella. Most puppies are. But I think Dom is a special case. I’ve never seen him willingly calm down after playing. I promise if he isn’t calmed down, ignored or disciplined (not by me because it breaks my heart), he won’t find his chill pill. However, he listens to Devante immediately. It takes Dom at least three times before he listens to me. And YES. That is my fault. I spoil him and let him get away with things. I cuddle him and call him “little baby Dom” all day in my cutest baby voice. But I mean. Looks at his face. He’s a five pound little devil.
All of this is to say. Maybe you should wait to get a puppy. Or you shouldn’t. I don’t really know. What I do know is that it’s a lot of work that I can’t begin to explain (mostly because he’s pacing back and forth. Which means he has to pee. So I should wrap up this post before he has an accident.)
I love Domino. But this new life of raising a pup is a shock. I can barely take care of myself.
Below are outtakes from Domino’s mini feature shoot. As you can see none of them worked out (hence the emoji on my face) and I only got a few shots before he jumped down.
