My hair is finally growing!
So for this to be a beauty blog, you’ll notice I rarely talk about my hair journey. It’s not something I’ve mastered and honestly it’s something that scares me to talk about. I play it safe when it comes to my hair because change scares me. Even with makeup, I stick to my trusted brands and products more often than not. But with hair, it’s easy to make a mistake that takes awhile to correct.
But this year I’ve been stepping outside of my comfort zone and experimenting with new styles, products and even stylists. Since March, I’ve had two sew ins, and box braids and after the braids I’ve been wearing my real hair.
You’ve may have noticed that I don’t wear my real hair “natural.” I prefer it straightened because I don’t have the patience to practice natural styles. It may be something I adopt in the future but for now, I love my wraps.
Ever since I took out my braids, I’ve been debating on what I should do next. Since the weather is cooler, I decided to wear my real hair. At the beginning of this year I had a short bob and now it’s completely grown out. This is the longest my hair has been in years because I kept cutting it and adding heat to it. But I am a testament of saying protective styles work.
Yesterday, I got my hair done by a stylist named Aysha, referred to me by my friend Skylar! And when I say I am in love with her work and my hair, it’s not an exaggeration! I have extremely coarse hair that does require a bit of elbow grease. Haha. But I appreciate when a stylist takes their time and can still get my hair silky straight with no effort. My hair feels healthy, clean and beautiful– the most it’s felt since I’ve taken down my braids. And I honestly think I found my new stylist. <3 It wasn’t until she did my hair did I REALLY notice the growth and improvement of my hair. I’m positive I’ll be going to her again in the next few weeks for my next style.
