This year has had an interesting start to say the least. And now we’re in March 2020, practicing Social Distancing. It’s no secret that the COVID-19 pandemic has shaken up our lives. This new normal of staying in doors on purpose is making me anxious to be honest. But I’m trying to stay optimistic that things will calm down soon, for everyone.
It’s only been a week since I’ve been working from home with my fiancé. I’m blessed to have a space that I already feel comfortable in and not completely alone. He’s keeping things fun for us while we spend our whole days together, indefinitely. I do also love not having to out on real clothes. Sweaters, leggings and no bra for the win.
But I still want to keep my sense of self when I’m “off of work.” So I’ve decided to push myself to use this free time to be the most productive I’ve been in months. During my self-quarantine, I plan to do activities that make me happy!
I was fortunate enough to get my hair, nails and wax done before everything shut down. I get to look cute af in the house. So aside from the obvious Netflix and Chill dates, cooking literally every meal and sleeping as much as possible; I really want to use my free time to indulge in some hobbies that I’ve been slacking on. The list below are some of things I’ve managed to procrastinate on but now I have no reason not to put in the work and get back to them.
- Workout 3x a Week: I definitely took a long break from the gym in March. Work was killing me and I just wanted to sleep after work. I also didn’t have my braids and I hate working out with my hair straightened. Excuses galore. But now that I’m at home, I’m forced to do home workouts. My favorite fitness guru, India Monet, has launched Home Booty Workouts so I will be doing those. I purchased a new mat today, too! Summer Body 2020 is still about to be snatched sis.
- Practice My Makeup Skills: I haven’t worn eyeshadow in so long that I’m not even sure what the new trends are TBH. My complexion and eyebrow game remains undefeated but I need to get my blending brushes out of retirement and bring some colorful looks to IG. Which brings me to my next point…
- Post Content on Instagram/My Site: I can’t keep up with social media these days. Posting content for GGGF brings me so much joy but also it brings me anxious feelings that usually defeat me. However, I know how much GGGF means to me so I need to at least try right? Content is coming. I mean this post is proof.
- Read: I bought a book in January and have not finished it. I just haven’t found the time to sit down and read it. But with so much free time, I plan to finish it by End of March. It’s called “Calm The F*ck Down” by Sarah Knight. A book about managing anxiety, which I could clearly use.
- Learn New Recipes: There’s so many amazing women that I follow who can cook! I need to boss up and reach ultimate wifey status by expanding the meals I make. Lately, I’ve dabbled in a few new recipes. My favorite being, Tuscan Butter Salmon/Shrimp. I make it along with broccoli and angel hair pasta. It’s delicious. Once I get a cast iron skillet, new recipes to come!
- WEDDING PLAN: I never blogged about it, but Devante and I got engaged on September 1, 2019! Best day of my life, so far. So now we’re in the beginning stages of saving aggressively and wedding planning. I’m not sure if I’ll be visiting venues any time soon, due to the climate, but this is still a great time to get our wedding party aligned, reception and ceremony ideas together and and themes planned out!
Safe to say I have plenty things to do to keep me busy during these uncertain times. Writing this blog post alone reduced my anxiety a bit for the day. So if you made it this far, you’re a real one and shots on me! #VirtualHappyHour
Be safe, everyone! Stay home.
